Local Businesses Once Again Support Aspiring Broadway Youth
Over 60 small businesses believe in the Broadway dreams of local youth who auditioned and won a part in the 10th annual Summer Musical Theatre Boot Camp produced and directed by Lee Colee’ Studios and presented by The Wimberley Players. In thecurrent hard economic times, these business owners are financially assisting over 25 kids, ranging from 6-20 years old. For their generosity, they only receive a private performance, acknowledgement in the program and a thank you note. But by making an investment in a child, Donna Kyte, owner of The Prow’d House in Wimberley says, “If not in the children, what else is there, really?”
The sponsors have been a key factor in the steadily increasing quality of the summer camp productions. Over 45 young performers will be presenting highlights from suchmusic theatre favorites as “Annie,” West Side Story,” “Oliver,” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” after 12 days of intense “boot camp” training with music and theatre professionals. Camp begins on June 6th and continues until opening night, June 18th for nine performances. Business sponsors take a personal interest in their “investment” by providing the funds for costumes, props, scripts, and other needs then cheering them on in a special VIP performance closed to the public.
