Summer Music Theatre Bootcamp!


Yearly auditions are open to young performers 8 years to 17 and are being scheduled by appointment starting in January through April of each year. The camp begins in June and concludes with 9 performances at the Price Center In San Marcos. Those selected will work in the professional environment of a summer stock theatre with industry performers and coaches as they study and rehearse intensely all aspects of musical theatre skills.

Lee Colee Studios will be auditioning students ages 8-17 for the Summer Theatre Bootcamp starting January-April.  To set up an audition/casting call please email or contact us by phone (512-847-7934).

Those selected for the show will be introduced to a professional summer stock theatre environment , working with professionals in the industry as they rehearse and take classes and personal mentoring in voice, dance and acting .  After two weeks of rehearsal which is summer stock norm, the kids will present 9 performances in the beautiful Price Center theatre.

Directed by Lee Colee’, a working professional vocalist, choreographer, theatre director and cabaret entertainer, she will be assisted by tv/film actress Kathleen Griffith of Friday Night Lights who will act as assistant director and acting coach.

The boot camp has been a launching pad for many alumni now pursuing professional careers. They are rising country music star Jake Ware, San Marcos soprano Konnor Callendar, bass Sam Heaton and actor Auston Newman as well as Wimberley talents Justin Finch, Coy Branscum, Dylan Meek, Kelley Henry, and Callie Hardman.  Recent young alumni and students from the past year have been selected by national talent scout, Peter Sklar to workshop and appear in an Off Broadway production next year.   They are Katherine Black (14), Dakota Fernandez (11), Jeremiah Jordan (18) and Rusti Wade (17) of San Marcos, Dylan Blunk (16,) Allison Francis (16), Isabelle Hodge (16), Evie Jennings (10), Ava Kientz (9) and Hannah Muhlestein (10) of Wimberley and Cassie Martin (12) of Dripping Springs.  All of them have started with ensemble parts and moved up to leading roles.

Local businesses have sponsored many of the past alumni with tuition assistance when needed.  Past sponsors include Broadway Bank, Brookshire Brothers and Ace Hardware of Wimberley and the Civic Club of Wimberley. 2018 Camp Guest Assistant Director: Kathleen Griffith

Kathleen received her bachelor of Arts in Theatre at the University of the Incarnate Word located in San Antonio.  She has starred in plays ranging from “King Lear” to “The Laramie Project” and “Wait Until Dark” to “Perfect Crime” for which her portrayal of Dr. Margaret Brent won her the Dallas theater community’s nomination for Best Actress in a Drama.

Kathleen has worked in both film and television. She recently wrapped her recurring role of Margaret Cafferty on the highly acclaimed television drama “Friday Night Lights.”

She has trained under the tutelage of renowned film acting coach, Michele Condrey, and is thrilled to brig her knowledge of the “Meisner Method” of acting to Lee Colee Studios.
